Happy New Year - 2024 is here, and we are ready to help you jumpstart your year!
For several years, I have been reading extensively and listening to many podcasts about the science behind longevity. You will hear more about this in the coming weeks and months, but to set the stage, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of OUTLIVE: The Science & Art of Longevity by Peter Attia, MD. He does an excellent job of outlining the topic of Medicine 3.0. This is where we shift our attention toward improving ‘healthspan’, the quality of life vs. simply ‘lifespan,’ the length of life. Our goal at Connect & Beyond is to help you meet your goals with active prevention, understand your unique individual needs, and understand the risk of doing nothing. Let’s go!
Just a quick reminder about a couple of great opportunities to get started on Medicine 3.0!
MELT Monday: The Basics starts at noon next Monday, the 8th, in our studio! I love this technique, and I'm finding great value in working with MELT as one of my own personal self-care techniques. Learn more about MELT. On the second Monday of every month, MELT instructor Kim Reis will teach in our studio, 12-1:15, highlighting a new body part or technique. Sign Up!
Tai Chi for Better Balance Program Jim Dalton launches a new series on Wednesday, 1/10, at 10 AM. Class is ongoing on Wednesday and Friday 10-11 AM, but if you want to jump in at a new beginning, join us on the 10th. Learn more. Jim suggests an 8-10 week participation to acquire the skills for improved balance. You can also drop in anytime and continue to work on your skills or refresh what you already know. Sign up!
QiGong: Exploring Movement, Exploring Stillness Jim will continue teaching the principles of Active Relaxation, Strength Training, and Structural Integration. Learn more on Wednesdays at 11:15 AM. Sign up!
As always, we remain nimble, courageous, and loving!
Diane, for all of us at Connect & Beyond Physical Therapy
