TJ Nathan, DPT, OCS
Physical Therapist | Post-Operative Specialist

TJ is an orthopedic physical therapist who believes strongly in the power of movement—not only as medicine, but as a way of life. At Connect & Beyond, she enjoys helping people recover from injury, rebuild strength, and return to the activities that matter most to them.
Her approach to care is collaborative, evidence-based, and strength-focused. While TJ incorporates hands-on manual therapy when appropriate, she primarily emphasizes exercise and progressive strength training to help patients build resilience, confidence, and long-term independence in their movement. She believes meaningful recovery happens when patients are active participants in the process, and she enjoys guiding people through the consistent work that leads to lasting change.
TJ has extensive experience working with a wide range of patients, with a particular focus on orthopedic conditions and post-operative rehabilitation. She values getting to know each person she works with, integrating the best available research with clinical expertise and each patient’s individual goals to support thoughtful, personalized care.
Before becoming a physical therapist, TJ spent a decade working as an environmental planner. Her desire to work more directly with people and contribute to their well-being ultimately led her to pursue a career in physical therapy—a decision that continues to bring her great fulfillment.
TJ earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from California State University, Northridge, and completed a year-long orthopedic residency at Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills. She later earned her transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University and remains committed to ongoing learning and professional growth.
Outside the clinic, TJ enjoys staying active through walking, running, yoga, weight training, and cycling. She lives in Portland with her husband, two teenage daughters, and two energetic dogs, and especially enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
